Dogger Bank Coalition Inaugural Meeting & Water Bodies Orchestra try-out

At the heart of the North Sea lies an underwater sandbank: the Dogger Bank. This breeding ground of the North Sea is a unique Natura 2000 area with high biodiversity, despite its severely degraded state. Over the next three years, a broad coalition—led by the Embassy of the North Sea and the Doggerland Foundation—will work towards improved legal, cultural and political representation of the Dogger Bank, alongside both passive and active nature restoration. Our goal: a robust and resilient Dogger Bank by 2050, benefiting the entire North Sea. The coalition consists of ATU – Atlantic Technological University in Ireland, Blue Marine Foundation in the UK, BUND in Germany, WWF in Denmark and ARK Rewilding Netherlands, the Embassy of the North Sea and Doggerland Foundation in the Netherlands.

Join the Inaugural Meeting of the Dogger Bank Coalition

You are cordially invited to the Inaugural Meeting of the Dogger Bank Coalition, Wednesday 24 September 2025 at 18:00 in the Amstelkerk in Amsterdam. During this evening, founders of the Dogger Bank Coalition will share their principles, plans, research and actions. The School of Dogger Bank will present research from different disciplines: art, design, law and science. We welcome you to engage in dialogues and exchange viewpoints, and – if you wish – to sign the founding declaration. We will send you additional information in the weeks leading up to the meeting, including the text of the founding declaration.

The Water Bodies Orchestra

The Inaugural Meeting coincides with the Confluence of European Water Bodies 2025, a transdisciplinary network of around 60 representatives of Europe’s rivers, seas, lakes, glaciers and wetlands. After the Mar Menor in 2023 and the Venice Lagoon in 2024, the Dutch North Sea is hosting the Confluence in September 2025. The members will join the evening and perform the Water Bodies Orchestra, a digital design project, led by artists Harpo ‘t Hart and Steye Hallema. Through this interactive group experience, the human and non-human voices of water bodies will come together in a performative moment.
