Manifesto

Maria Lucia Cruz Correia

Lucia is a water keeper, artist and the initiator of the Natural Contract Lab group. Since 2009, her work has reacted to the environmental crises of our times, weaving temporary and collaborative processes that are a living organism that keeps growing in kinship with rivers, resilient plants, trees and others. Correia’s artistic practice expresses a sense of geopolitics and environmental advocacy to imagine new forms of multispecies justice. Therefore, her practice braids rituals of reciprocal care and ecological grief, walking-with methodologies, sensory attentiveness, restorative justice and rights of nature tools. Correia’s practice is an ongoing attempt to fabulate and imagine new forms of social environmental proposals, like “Urban Action Clinic (2015)”, “Common Dreams School (ongoing)”, “voiceofnatureKINSTITUTE (ongoing)” and “Natural Contract Lab (ongoing)”. Her work has been supported by Imagine 2020, Displacement Uncertain Journeys (SW), Be Part (EU), Green Art Lab Alliance (Gala), and TerraBatida (PT). Between 2022 and 2027, she is a firekeeper for the World Ethic Forum.
