The Water Bodies Orchestra is a digital design project developed by Smart Phone Orchestra and the Confluence of European Water Bodies. Through interactive group experiences, the human and non-human voices of water bodies will come together in a performative moment.
Water Bodies Orchestra now presents a new edition: La Laguna Parla
The Water Bodies Orchestra has been selected by the Venice International Film Festival. A special edition has now been created titled La Laguna Parla. This smartphone-guided group experience builts around an indisputable truth: humans are mostly water. From this comes a second, equally profound realization: every person on Earth is a tiny drop in an endlessly recycling ecosystem- water itself. Share a ritual of listening, movement, interaction and imagination. As the phones synchronise, individual sounds merge into a spatial composition: a shifting field of rain, wind and current that flows through the space and through the crowd. Drops of rain emerge from each phone, gathering into a fierce storm, which dissolves into streams, rivers and open seas. These waterbodies then begin to speak in the first person, voicing their joys, hopes and fears.
La Laguna Parla was created by The Smartphone Orchestra in collaboration with the Confluence of European Water Bodies, Embassy of the North Sea, Harpo ‘t Hart and Letizia Artioli and derived from the original Water Bodies Orchestra.
