Anna Chmiel is a painter, multimedia artist, and key member of the Rivers Sisters collective from 2019. She seamlessly combines art with activism for nature, especially rivers. Chmiel focuses on consciously being in nature, making visual and audio notes – sketches, paintings, and field recordings, through the practice of deep listening. Anna Chmiel documents in the form of audio recordings, audio tracks of happenings of the River Sisters Collective. She continuously helps build a network between artists, activists, and scientists in Poland and inside the group. Her artistic practice is enriched by analogue animations, with water and oil paint (liquid light show), performed to music and sounds of nature.
Through the Rivers Sisters collective, she is associated with the Greenming Foundation and the Save the Rivers Coalition. Her beloved river is Golczanka and Bug.
