Can the Piave still Murmur?

“Can the Piave still Murmur?”, referencing an old popular song from the First World War, is an event to be held October 6 at Ocean Space, Venice, as the culmination of the second edition of the Confluence of European Water Bodies, with the special participation of the Comitato per le Grave di Ciano, the IDRA network (Iniziativa per i Diritti delle Reti d’Acqua) and artistic group Arts4theCommons (Francesco Martone and Rosa Jijon). The event is supported by the International Rights of Nature Tribunal and was envisioned also through the “Mountains Flow” Deep Ecology and Rights of Nature Campus, co-developed with the Italian Buddhist Union (UBI) and NICHE – THE NEW INSTITUTE Center for Environmental Humanities at Ca’ Foscari University.

An assembly will gather in Ocean Space for an in-depth discussion and a series of artistic elements centered on the case of the Grave di Ciano, an important area in the mid-course of the Piave river, protected by the Natura 2000 project but threatened by a potentially ecologically damaging climate adaptation project.
